Chattanooga Bound!

It has been a long week in some ways. We are awaiting a trip north the see family and friends and it seems as though time is creeping by. Some rather interesting things have happened this week as well. A drunk man in the French Quarter tried to pull us into his stealing scheme and then the next night we must've been thinking about that when we went to the sno ball stand, ordered our sno balls, and then realized our cash was sitting at home on the coffee table. The temperatures had cooled a bit, you know, down to the low 90's but they're back up to around 100. 

I sold my motorcycle this week... it was sad to see it go but it would be sadder to drive it off in a giant pot hole. The roads here are pretty horrific and the traffic isn't much better so it was really the best choice. Matt's motorcycle is for sale too.

Friday we'll be hitting the road as soon as school is out. We will be in Chattanooga all weekend! We have a pretty big weekend planned but it looks like we'll have time to see everyone for a little while at least. We are really excited about getting to see everybody! It'll be nice to be back in Tennessee for a few days :)

Hittin' The Slots!

We finally made it down to the casino! At one point, we were up 400%!! Too bad we'd only put $1 in a penny slot machine. Bahahaha! It was a fun day! About 15 bucks entertained us for a couple hours. Next time... we're playing the tables! Black Jack? Poker? Hold 'em? Maybe all three!

Saints Season in New Orleans!

Preseason is over and football season is finally here! We are still trying to decide which game we are going to...

What a weekend!

This weekend was packed with fun! Friday night we spent time with family in town, doing a little bar hopping in the FQ. Saturday was the grand Red Dress Run... while we didn't participate, the "red runners" all over town were quite the site. For lunch we found some great BBQ at "Squeal". Saturday night I enjoyed dinner with a friend and one amazing Bryan Adams concert while Matt and a friend listened to the "Geraniums" and "Mystic Honkys" at the Circle Bar. Sunday we enjoyed the sound of rain falling outside of the windows as it cooled the city off. Then, coconut shrimp for dinner!

We were just driving along exploring a New Orleans road and we topped a hill and wa-la! Lake Pontchartrain ! It looks an awful lot like ocean!

Gotta Eat at Katie's!

This past week Matt and I grabbed lunch at this Mid-City gem. Katie's is literally in the middle of a neighborhood but is very well-known by locals. We had parmesan zucchini and po'boys. Hands down one of the best meals we've had in the entire city!

Flashback: Audubon

About two weeks ago we discovered the prettiest place to go walking... Audubon Park! There are fountains and towering oak trees and even a small lake. More pictures to come :)

 

Mid City Yoga

Finally I have found a new yoga home... one street over from my house is a place called Balance Yoga & Wellness. They are hosting yoga in beautiful two story shotgun house and the yoga room has a fireplace and a huge stained glass window. Just lovely! The walk there is half a mile so I get a roundtrip mile walk out of the deal too.

Back To School!

It is just about time for school to start back and Matt's classroom is ready to go!

 



Swamp Time at the Barataria Preserve

Well, the heat index was over 100 degrees today so we didn't spent a lot of time exploring. We drove about an hour from NOLA to check out the Barataria Preserve and swamps. A fellow traveler said he saw an alligator but we weren't able to see one today. The park ranger said that they were pretty common but that it was too hot for too much movement today. We did see some gigantic spiders though... not my favorite part of the day but possibly Matt's! We ended the trip with roadside sno balls!
